I only learned about this show the day before it happened. About a week ago a family friend of Chandler’s put up a Facebook post.
Chandler is 21 yrs old and battling terminal cancer. He hasn’t had many “firsts”. Lets change that. Please come out with your exotics, classics, sportscars, and hotrods to honor him at Chandler’s First Show and Shine
Someone skeptical mentioned that they would probably get 20 cars, if that. That person obviously doesn’t know the power of social media, and how us car folks can make things happen on short notice. To illustrate, I myself didn’t even know about the show till the day before and the only reason why I did was because they shared it on the Cars and Coffee Dallas Facebook. Way to go DFW car community for pulling out all the stops!
Needless to say: I had to go, there was no way I wasn’t. I asked the owner of the ‘09 CTSV I reviewed if I could borrow his car for the show and he handed me the fob with the simple words “of course”.
I drove over, and slotted in behind a nice 1965 Fastback at the entrance of the show. It was then I knew the community had responded. The show lot was packed with what could only be described as a miniature version of Cars and Coffee.
I can honestly say this was one of the best shows, if not THE best show I have ever been to. Especially knowing this came to be in less than a week. What a turnout. And the smiles I saw on Chandler’s face? Priceless. I am thankful for everyone that came out. What an amazing day.
